Private Parties and Secret Phantasies

Categories:  Gigs

Hey everybody! How IS your summer going? Super! Now, let’s talk Metal.  San Francisco’s leader of the NWSFHM scene (New Wave of San Francisco Metal… yes, we made that shit up), otherwise known as Hot Fog, continues to rock into our favorite season of the year.  As many of you know, summer = fog in San Francisco, and we are kicking it off by celebrating the birthday of our “manager” and friend, Parker Gibbs. He is having a huge birthday bash and Hot Fog is headlining. The event is a private party, but many of you Hot Fog fans would be welcome if the following conditions apply:

1. you are a friend of parker and are already going

2. the place is less than the 120 person capacity

3. you have $10

Here is the Facebook Invite with the info.

In other news, we are hard at work on songs for a new album .  Some of the new gems you’ll hear us play include “Sword Mountain” and “Secret Phantasies of the Dragon Sun”.

New Blood, Same Awesome Metal

All Hail Downstroke

Time passes, entropy entropies, and shit changes – that’s the cold hard facts, jack. Fortunately, Hot Fog doesn’t really ever have to worry about that thanks to our really awesome deal with the devil. Nutmeat (may he rest in peace) was a great fucking bass player and one hell of a pimp, but the time has come for a new man, and Lars is that man. (Nutmeat’s not dead – he’s in the East Bay). Tentative nickname: Downstroke.  You tell us if you got something better.  Downstroke brings years of experience, a new flying V bass, and unfortunately, a taste for micro-brews (NOT COOL).  The hazing hasn’t been easy on Lars or our livers, but he’s come shining through, and we’ll be busting his ripe, red cherry at our next show,  May 10th @  The Knockout.  Check out show on Facebook too.

Hot Fog @ Noisepop Review in 7×7

Categories:  Gigs, Press
Tags: 7x7, benders, harderships, hotfog, noisepop

Coming off our triumphant, yet sad swan song for Nutmeat at Noisepop, it was nice to see that the leftist, liberal, indie-rock leaning media has finally woken up and noticed the power and importance of what we are accomplishing. Read the full review online. Nice job to our buds in Harderships for helping us wave the flag of awesomeness.

Rounding out the night was Dio-inspired metal maniacs Hot Fog, a foursome of unhinged shredders hellbent on playing as fast as possible and saying the most absurd things into the microphone they could think of. “I think we and The Decemberists are the only two bands in the world who write songs about nautical warfare,” they declared after one of their fantastical odes, “To The Helm” to medieval times. Switching between the duelling axe sound of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and early Metallica-esque thrash riffs, all that was missing were some epic pyrotechnics. This city’s begging for an injection of badass metal to balance out the heady influx of indie noiseniks, and Hot Fog’s penchant for speed and goofball irreverence may be enough to light the match.

Hot Picks

Categories:  Uncategorized

Sailing towards your face at a Hot Fog show near you

These just in… Hot Fog Shredmaster guitar picks.  These are made from the teeth of a tiger shark that was caught by hand by some crazy Hot Fog fans in Indonesia… we then, of course,  had our insignia emblazened on them.  They are .88 mm thick… a size that Tommi Kazi, Nutmeat, AND The Drake have all determined to achieve maximum shredability.  How might you acquire some of these awesome instruments of power? Come to our shows, and we will be generously flicking them into the crowd when we require a fresh implement.  If you get hit in the eye, think of it as the guitar gods smiling upon you and don’t sue us.

Hot Fog w/ Big Business and Totimoshi in LALA land

Categories:  Gigs

fruity!

12/11/2010 is when i all goes down… That’s right, folks, we are headed to the home of metal to get all metal.  Silverlake (where Club Spaceland is) is actually kind of like San Francisco, except the hipsters weigh, on average, about 8 lbs less, and its legal to drive drunk. We’ll be bringing the entire crew and our management team – - we also have very strong ties to the MS-13 gang down there, so don’t fuck with us.

We will also be celebrating the 40th birthday (we don’t actually know how old he is… its a best guess) of Hot Fog lead guitar player, The Drake.  This means there will be a huge after-party, complete with celebrities, strippers, and more strippers.  LA peeps… you are on notice.  You WILL be there, you WILL party, and you WILL get rad.
